Lynn R. Goldman, MD, MS, MPH, the Michael and Lori Milken Dean of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University, testified at a hearing held March 18, 2015 by the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on a 1976 law called the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Goldman told members that the law was passed to protect the public from potentially harmful chemicals but is long overdue for reforms. She urged members to take a close look at the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, a bill that would close many of the loopholes in the current law and provide better safeguards for the public.
The text of the testimony and more information about the hearing is available on the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works website. Goldman also authored the op-ed, "Don't let another generation grow up under a failed toxics law," on the same topic, which was published in the Hill.
