Ana María del Río-González, PhD, MA, MS
Project Director and Co-Principal Investigator
Ana María del Río-González, PhD, MA, MS is the Project Director and Co-Principal Investigator of SHARE. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Prevention and Community Health, Milken Institute School of Public Health at GWU. Dr. del Río-González’s program of research focuses on identifying and understanding factors associated with health disparities among minoritized and marginalized groups. She has extensive experience in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods HIV research with diverse populations, both in Colombia and in the U.S.—including Latina transgender women, cisgender Latino sexual minority men, Black men, and people with a history of involvement with the criminal justice system (i.e., incarceration, parole and probation).
Carlos E. Rodríguez-Díaz, PhD, MPH
Co-Principal Investigator
Carlos E. Rodríguez-Díaz, PhD, MPH is co-principal investigator of SHARE. He is currently the Chair and Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at Boston University. Dr. Rodríguez-Díaz is a native of Puerto Rico, a Spanish-speaker, and an experienced bilingual-bicultural researcher with a background in community health. He conducts community-based participatory research in Puerto Rico, the United States of America, and the Caribbean Region. His work has focused on health equity through actions on the social determinants of health. He has led several programs and research projects addressing health inequities among populations made socially vulnerable, including people with HIV, Hispanic/Latinxs, incarcerated populations, and sexual and gender minority groups. He has several funded projects to develop interventions to enhance HIV prevention services, improve primary care for Latinx and transgender populations, and improve continuity of care for justice-involved people.
David M. Stoff, PhD
Co-Principal Investigator
David M. Stoff, PhD, is Co-Principal Investigator of SHARE. He is a Research Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at GWU. After a productive research career in animal psychopharmacology and the role of serotonin in human aggression-impulsivity, Dr. Stoff served for 30 years as National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) program official in research administration of various HIV research program and training areas where he was responsible for the stewardship and oversight of a large interdisciplinary grant portfolio. Most recently, he concentrated on HIV health disparities-research training and became a leader in the HIV diversity field. Dr. Stoff’s contributions focused on developing diversity-equity-inclusion initiatives across the nation, implementing the most promising mentorship strategies for underrepresented investigators and, in general, building programs to create a more diverse HIV research workforce. He has been recognized for these efforts in diversifying the biomedical research workforce through NIMH Directors’ Awards and a Resolution of Faculty and Project Directors of Training Programs.
