Eligibility

To be eligible for our program you must meet ALL the following criteria before the start of the program in May 2024:

  • Be from Hispanic/Latino background
  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (for support from NIH-supported programs)
  • Be of at least 18 years of age
  • Have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework in an accredited higher education institution in the United States or Puerto Rico. OR have graduated from an undergraduate program within the last two years (no earlier than 2022 graduation date).  Those already enrolled in a graduate program are not eligible.
  • Have not been accepted to a graduate program or matriculating to a graduate school program for the upcoming school year.
  • Have interest in pursuing an advanced degree in social, behavioral, or biomedical sciences in the pursuit of a research career. Candidates should be interested in research that addresses social and behavioral factors associated with HIV, mental health, and substance abuse, in the general population and/or among specific populations. Ideal candidates are already connected to the community they want to conduct research with.
  • Be able to commit fully to the program timeline, including 40-hour workweeks, pre-program correspondence with our administrators, and weekly workshop attendance.
