Mentors

Mentors:

Each SHARE scholar is individually supported by a mentoring team of three mentors, based on the scholar’s research interests and location: (1) Research (Science) Mentor, a member of the SHARE program’s faculty/staff; (2) Career Mentor, a “local” mentor who is located at the Scholar’s home institution, and (3) Peer Mentor, a graduate of an R25 program or another similar program, selected based on similarity of research interests and who meets with Scholar monthly in-person or via video conference. Resource Mentors are also available to provide expertise and advice in areas that are complementary to the scholar’s research projects

Supervised by their mentor(s), each scholar will develop a research plan that is integrated with any of the active research opportunities.  The research plan will address a selected research theme among the priority research areas: health disparities/social determinants of health, prevention or care continuum, comorbidities.  SHARE’s research opportunities reflect the wide-ranging interests of mentors and other affiliated faculty at George Washington University, American University, and other collaborating institutions in Washington D.C. metropolitan area that are part of the District of Columbia’s Center For AIDS Research (DC CFAR)
