  4. College transcript (unofficial / photocopies are accepted)
  5. Proof of health insurance coverage
  6. Contact information of two recommenders (We will contact them directly to request letters of recommendation).

 


SHARE Statement of Interest

The Statement of Interest includes two short essays with the following prompts. Please use 12 pt font.  Upload each statement directly into the application as a word or PDF into the SHARE questionnaire

Statement 1 - Personal statement (800 words):

Please provide a statement that describes the following:
  1. How you have demonstrated your commitment to serving the Hispanic/Latino community.
  2. Your academic and career goals related to one or more of these areas: public health, HIV research and/or substance use research specifically among Hispanic/Latino communities.
  3. What has inspired you to pursue these goals (e.g., previous research experience, personal experiences, etc.)
  4. How the Latino SHARE program will help you pursue these academic and career goals.
  5. Previous research experience related to HIV, substance use or other relevant areas, if any (previous experience is not required).
  6. Expected impact of your participation in Latino SHARE on your education and future career plans 
  7. Any unique, personally important, and/or challenging factors in your background that have influenced your goals or academic achievements.

Statement 2 - Research statement (400 words): 

Describe the areas of research you are interested in pursuing, and explain why the topic is of interest to you. Some example areas include: Underserved communities, especially Hispanics/Latinas/xs/os; Prevention; Health disparities.


Letters of Recommendation

All applicants will be required to provide the contact information of two recommenders during the application process. The recommender should have direct experience regarding the applicant's academic and career interests (e.g., professor, advisor, mentor, employer). We will contact the recommenders and invite them to provide a letter of recommendation on behalf of the applicant. All recommendations will be verified by SHARE staff.
