Luis Alvarez-Hernandez PhD, MSW-LICSW

Dr. Alvarez-Hernandez is a queer Puerto Rican Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Social Work and Core Faculty at the Boston University Center on Emerging Infectious Diseases. His research focuses on the structural and social determinants of health of Latine, LGBTQ+, and immigrant communities with a particular attention to the liberatory experiences of people living at the intersections of these identities. During the SHARE Program, the Scholar will support qualitative research focused on the role of social support on the HIV treatment adherence of Latine LGBTQ+ people living in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
